On day 2 we set out to the mountain, Cerro Castillo, an impressive castle kingdom and endless untrammeled wilderness just beyond the two major trails.
A common scene as you drive by mountain saddles with hanging glaciers and electric blue lakes heading south from Lago Tranquilo.
A beautiful moment as this guanaco allowed me to photograph it as it grazed the high grasslands with the vast expanse of Parque Patagonia in the background.

The winds were certainly hurricane force, blowing the lake waves sideways, as I struggled to hold the tripod to the rocks. I had to set my ISO at 800 (usually 100 for landscapes).
