This tiny butterfly only exists in the pine rockland ecosystems if South Florida and depends on its sole host plant and nectar source the pineland croton. Currently the Bartram's Hairsteak is candidate for listing on the endangered species act. Fortunately, most of the remaining habitat has been protected.
